Killers Concert

This last Monday we rocked all out at the Killers concert at the Northrop Auditorium. I have to say it's been a while since I was at such a cool show. Derek&Amanda, Kevin&Dawn and cousin Aaron joined us for dinner at Jake's (the actual restaurant) first then we headed downtown for the music. I even wore comfortable shoes this time since I knew I had to work early the next morning and didn't wanna risk going with huge blood blisters.
I LOVE the Killers, they are so rockin'!

Plus, there is nothing better than to go see rock concerts at places where the Russian Ballet comes to dance the next day.

Here are some sweet Killers songs:

Idol Mania

It has come again, the new American Idol season. They could of course not choose a better time to start the new season since the frigid weather here in the Midwestern USA is non merciful.

I get it, it's cold right? But no, you don't understand, IT'S COLD. All I hear on the news and radio is how cold it is. Yes fellow Minnesotans I went outside today too and my nose hairs froze into icicles too. People are rushing into the hospitals with 1st, 2nd, and 3rd degrees frost bite on their limbs and noses from being exposed to the -27 degree windchill for more than 7 minutes.

But we have American Idol don't we? On TV and on our XBOX's and Playstation's. We cry, laugh, and sing along as the contestants get ripped apart by Simon and praised by Paula. As long as our furnaces still run and electricity comes we are cozy warm perfectly content. I was so excited I scored highest points on my attempt on "Straight Up" and not so shabby on "Every Rose has it's Thorns", haha figures huh?!

We admit it, we are all hooked! And for your information I own "Sweet Child of Mine" on Guitar Hero!

I also want to add that a girl can still look hot in heels in icy January weather. Couple of safety tips: Don't drink too much, and ALWAYS make sure to have a very short walking distance to the car. No one likes a face plant in the snow.

No Woman, No Cry

That is on top of a huge mountain in waist deep powder looking down at a double black diamond I mean.

The chronicles of Washington State vacation continue.

How I found myself in the predicament of standing in my skis on top of a mountain fearing this would be my last breaths in this life is the question of the century. What is there to do but to start hysterically balling, and that was the only thing my body could possibly do in that moment. Of course my brain could not remotely remember the act of skiing which by the way I have been doing since long ago, but instead is overwhelmed with fear and a little dizziness from the low oxygen level at that altitude.

Since I am alive to tell the story I am happy to say that after 1&1/2 hrs of crying, scraping, sweating, crashing, and actually slaloming a little I made it down the mountain safe and sound. Mostly because Jake was with me the whole time slightly confused with my highly emotional state telling/reminding me that I can do this, and taking breaks with me when he sensed I was hyperventilating. Once again, thanks babe, and sorry if I snapped at you thinking you were breaking up with me in my belligerent mind.

When we got down to the bottom Jake told me I did so good even though I was still very shook up. As we're walking into the chalet he tells me "I think you need a beer", "Yeah, me too" I said, and we spent the next hour drinking micro brews chatting and laughing at my ridiculous behaviour on the slope. My extremities were still slightly shaking from the extra adrenalin release. After our "beer break" we only went half way up the mountain and miraculously my skiing felt so much better even though my thighs burned after about 3 turns. Which reminds me to hit the stair master for about a month before my next mountain skiing trip, oy, that's a lot of work.

The next day we went back to the mountain with Corey, Kady and Shea and had a really good time with no broken limbs. Us girls were together going down "cruiser" hills while the guys went to the top to rip up the new powder. Afterward we all met up in the chalet and hung out. Now that's much better.

And just to pay a tribute to one of the best songs ever written:

Arrival of Kady & Corey

The next day we had plans to pick up Kady & Corey at the airport in the afternoon. First we wanted to make sure we had the kitchen stocked with goodies. Where else to go but to Pike's Market. This is a very known, popular market right by the water which has plenty of sea-food, fresh pasta, veggies, cheese, and of course all the trinket stands. It's funny because Jake and I always end up at local markets everywhere we go travel, it has almost become like a 'travel hobby' of ours. Little did I know this particular market is known for it's sea-food stand where the workers sing and throw the fish/seafood up to the counter every time someone orders. I was getting a little worried when Jake almost got smacked in the head by a salmon while he was paying. Kady told me later that this is a huge tourist attraction which explains all the people taking pictures but not buying anything, which confused me at the time.

Anyways, later Jake prepared all the sea-food for dinner and we ate for 3 hours.

The sea-food-garbage-plate always looks so charming doesn't it? But wait.. it's totally overflowing onto Corey's plate.
Now that's ALOT of shell-fish I don't know if that last piece is gonna make it.
..maybe next time...

Taking Seattle by Storm...

...in our forest green non-four-wheel-drive Jeep rental, ready to take on all the rustic adventures of the north west coast.

We are finally here! After having cabin fever for weeks in advance we are finally here in the rainy city. Of course I wish Jake wouldn't have forgotten the charging cable to the laptop so that this post could have existed 7 days ago with probably some more accurate memories. Bare with me folks I have been off-line for a week and am just realizing that life still goes on to my surprise.

Our condo is absolutely perfect thanks to Jake who found it online. We are staying in an area called Belltown only blocks from the water, Pike's Market, and we are surrounded by quaint, popular bars and restaurants.

We start off vacation with getting breakfast around the corner then power nap (I know, we are old). After waking, quick-search on the computer (remember we only have 48 min of charged power) we are headed to Shae and Lena's whom we are dying to see since they moved to Washington State one week after we got married. They live in a small little ski-town about 30min east of Seattle. Jake has known them all his life and misses his best friend Shea so much. We had a great evening visiting, playing with Brooklyn, Belize, Zealand, and of course the new baby Sahara. I'm so upset we forgot the camera tonight. Go to Lena's blog if you haven't had a chance yet at photographybylena.blogspot.com .
